A criminal case should be brought against the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on suspicion of kindling inter-religious discord. This was stated by the spokesman of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) Vasily Anisimov.

“Yesterday the President of Ukraine spoke. When will the Kagarlitsky prosecutor initiate a criminal case against him for kindling inter-religious strife? Because of what the president said in front of the television cameras. According to him, this is incitement against the Orthodox Church and the kindling of inter-religious strife. The spokesman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church added that corpus delicti is obvious, reports RIA Novosti.

He added that “Nero’s laurels make Poroshenko restless – some persecutions here, some oppression (against the church) there”.

Earlier the SBU declared that it had carried out a search at the place of residence of the prior of the Svyato-Uspensky Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Criminal proceedings on kindling interfaith hostility were initiated by the prosecutor of the Kagarlitsky region of the Kiev region.
