A Ukrainian militant who took part in a failed attempt to penetrate the territory of the Republic in the southern direction was taken prisoner by the units of the People’s militia of the DPR. This was reported on January 2nd by the deputy head of the department of the People’s militia of the DPR Eduard Basurin.
“Our defenders took prisoner one of the Ukrainian militants who was abandoned by his ‘colleagues’, who fled in panic. The doctors said that the prisoner has hyperthermia, so now qualified medical care is being given to him”noted Basurin
He added that during interrogation the militant described the details about the planned offensive in the Mariupol direction. In particular, according to him, one of the current main striking forces there was supposed to be the 128th mountain-assault brigade that was deployed in the city of Mukachevo in the Transcarpathian region. In addition, the prisoner also confirmed that the UAF intentionally carries out provocative shelling with the use of mortars.
“From the testimony of the prisoner concerning the situation near the contact line we see that nobody — neither Ukrainian politicians nor paramilitary groups — is interested in the conflict in Donbass ending. That’s why speaking about peace quickly returning to our land while Poroshenko’s regime is in power, unfortunately, it a waste of time”stressed Basurin
According to Basurin, the shelling of Dokuchaevsk that happened the day before and resulted in a house being damaged was carried out at the order of the commander of the 128th mountain-assault brigade of the UAF Sergey Sobko.
“Militants from the 128th mountain-assault brigade headed by the war criminal (Sergey) Sobko, not wanting to observe the ‘Christmas’ truce approved by the Contact group, attacked Dokuchaevsk with large-caliber machine guns. As a result of aimed fire the glazing of the house on 98 Lenina Street was damaged”said Basurin
