The commander of the 92nd separate mechanised brigade Vladimir Kokorev gave the order to shell the village of Vasilyevka, as a result of which a girl was wounded. This was stated by the deputy commander of the operative command of the DPR Eduard Basurin today.

“The 92nd separate mechanised brigade of occupiers that arrived recently to positions near Avdeevka continues to do add ‘feats’ in the fight against the civilian population into the book of disgraceful methods of combat. The leader of this armed formation, the well-known war criminal Vladimir Kokorev, sought to take away a human life yesterday,” he said. “The settlement of Vasilyevka was shelled on his order. As a result of the mortar attack committed by the Ukrainian terrorists a girl born in 1992 received shrapnel wounds to her abdominal region”.

Basurin noted that this is already the fourth civilian who was wounded in recent days as a result of the UAF’s deliberate shelling. At the same time, according to the deputy commander, the statistics demonstrate that the Ukrainian armed formations especially choose civil infrastructure and civilians as the targets of their attacks.

The deputy commander added that the identification of two more leaders of Ukrainian armed formations bearing responsibility for shelling the settlements of Sakhanka and Zaitsevo, as a result of which in recent days three civilians were wounded, are also established. These are the commanders of the 36th separate brigade of marines and the 24th separate mechanised brigade – the war criminals Gnatov and Gudz.

Basurin also reported that over the past month the Armed forces of the DPR have downed five Ukrainian drones, which allowed to obtain valuable information about the positions of the UAF.

“A strengthening in the enemy’s air reconnaissance in the Gorlovka, Donetsk, and Mariupol directions was noted. It is important to highlight that thanks to the professional actions of our units the majority of the drones of the occupational forces of Ukraine were downed after crossing the contact line,” he said.

Basurin noted that every drone of the UAF is of value for the military personnel of the DPR, since it records on its journey the Ukrainian positions and military equipment. At the same time many drones are used by the Ukrainian side to check how masked their positions are. They fall into the hands of Armed Forces DPR along with this information.

“Just for the past month our air defense forces downed over the skies of the Republic five drones of the occupational forces of Ukraine. Three of them  that contained information that is useful for us were saved. We are very much grateful to Ukrainian reconnaissance agents who lose drones and constantly supply us with valuable data,” summed up the deputy commander.

As a reminder, according to point 7 of the Minsk memorandum from September 19th, 2014, the use of combat aircraft and drones is forbidden along the contact line in the disengagement zone of a width of no less than 30 km, except for the unmanned aerial vehicles of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission. Despite this, the UAF regularly uses drones, most often – for the purpose of carrying out aerial reconnaissance of the area and to correct fire.
