Translated by Ollie Richardson

On the night of June 21st unknown persons desecrated the grave of the hero of the USSR Nikolay Kuznetsov on Kholm Slavy in Lvov.

The vandals drew the Ukrainian trident with yellow paint and wrote “enemy of UPA” and “executioner”. A trident was drawn on the pedestal of the monument to deceased soldiers of the Soviet army. The grave had already been earlier painted – in August, 2017.

Nikolay Kuznetsov was a Soviet intelligence agent who died on March 8th, 1944 in the Lvov region.

A monument to him was established on one of the streets of Lvov, however in the early 90’s it was transferred to the town of Talitsa (Sverdlovsk region, Russia), where he is from.

In May, 2018 the governor of the Sverdlovsk region Evgeny Kuyvashov appealed to the Lvov city council to transfer the remains of the special agent of the NKVD Nikolay Kuznetsov for reburial. The deputy city chairman of Lvov for development Andrey Moskalenko said that there aren’t any plans to submit this question for the consideration of the executive committee yet.

As the press Secretary of the Lvov police command Svetlana Dobrovolskaya reported to the “” website, investigators are working to identify the ID of the vandals. The issue of the legal qualification of the crime in accordance with the norms of the current Criminal Code of Ukraine is being resolved.
