The Head of the DPR Aleksandr Zakharchenko Was Assassinated in Central Donetsk

During an explosion in the center of Donetsk the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Aleksandr Zakharchenko received a fatal wound.

Zakharchenko was in the “Separ” restaurant in the center of Donetsk at the time of the explosion, as a result of which he received wounds incompatible with life. The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic died from his wounds in the hospital that he was brought to after the explosion.

In addition, it became known that during the explosion the vice-chairman of Council of Ministers of the DPR Aleksandr Timofeev was wounded.

Aleksandr Zakharcheno was 42 years old. He headed the Donetsk People’s Republic since November 4th, 2014, survived several assassination attempts, and was awarded the Gold star of the Hero of the DPR, two St. George’s Crosses of the DPR, the Order of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker of the I and II degrees, and the award “For Fidelity to Duty”.

According to Interfax, citing a source in the law enforcement bodies of Donetsk, the intelligence agencies of the DPR have detained persons suspected of murdering the head of the Republic.

“Several people have been detained: Ukrainian saboteurs and related persons,” said the interlocutor of the agency.
