The Kiev authorities managed to block the broadcast of Russian channels to 180 settlements close to the contact line in Donbass.

This was stated by the First Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashenko on September 9th on her Facebook. She said that during her trip to Avdeevka she became acquainted with the new “Serpanok” blocking system, which appeared thanks to the latest developments of the Ukrainian military.

“The guys also invented a way of blocking enemy FM stations, and we with interest were convinced that it indeed works … And it is a very important step in the conditions of information war,” emphasised the first vice speaker.

Gerashchenko added that she will raise the question of what to do with those Ukrainian media agencies that are engaged in “anti-state propaganda in the conditions of military operations”.

Earlier the website of the President of Ukraine published a document in which it is said that MIA “Rossiya Segodnya” is included in the sanctions list of Ukraine for three years, and the assets and the websites of the agency are being are blocked in this country.

The sanctions list also includes All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting, REN-TV, “TV Tsentr”, NTV PLUS, the broadcasting company “Zvezda”, “TNT-Teleset”, “Moskva Media”, RK Media, “Tsifrovoye Televideniye”, “Natsionalnaya media gruppa”, and the broadcasting companies “Petersburg”, “Obshchestvennoye Televideniye Rossii”, and “Nashe Radio”.

Even the UN noted a disturbing tendency of deporting foreign journalists from Ukraine who are “labelled as propagandists, which becomes a reason for their deportation”, and urged to consider restrictive measures more carefully.
