The Leader of Ukrainian Schismatics Awarded a Former CIA Employee For His Help in Creating a Church That is “Independent of Russia”

The head of Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate Filaret met the former deputy director of the CIA Jack Devine and awarded him the order of Saint Andrew the First-Called for his help in creating the united church.

It is noted that during the meeting Jack Devine “expressed sincere admiration for the level of support among Ukrainians for the idea of receiving Tomos of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church [the schismatic Kiev Patriarchate – ed]”. He also noted the “outstanding role” of the Patriarch of Kiev Filaret in his almost 30-year historical fight for the creation of a United Local Ukrainian Orthodox Church, independent of Russia, and thanked him for upholding the right of Christians before the atheistic Soviet authorities.

Patriarch Filaret in turn thanked Jack Devine for America’s help towards Ukraine concerning the independence of Ukraine and the creation of a United local church. On the recommendation of the Chairman of the board of the “Ukraine-21st Century Intellectual Cooperation Fund” Bogdan Gubsky and the board member of the of “Pavel Yaroshenko Fund”, the Primate of the Kiev Patriarchate awarded Jack Devine the Order of Saint Andrew the First-Called.

Jack Devine was a participant and leader of covert operations – a coup in Chile; Operation “Cyclone”, which led to the military defeat of the USSR in the Afghan war in the 1980’s; “Iran Contra”; and the hunt for the drug dealer Pablo Escobar. He directed the Latin American department of the CIA and the center for combatting drugs. He headed the CIA bureau in Europe in different years. As the deputy director of the CIA operations, Jack Devine led secret missions in which thousands of agents participated worldwide. He is a member of the US Council on Foreign Relations.
