The SBU Detained 5 Ukrainian Citizens for Demanding to Investigate the Odessa Massacre

Translated by Ollie Richardson

SBU specialists detained two Kiev residents and three residents of the Odessa region for appealing to the authorities to investigate the massacre of inhabitants of Odessa on May 2nd, 2014.

According to the SBU, the Ukrainians posted the corresponding appeals on the social networks “VKontakte” and “Odnoklassniki”.

The SBU is sure that the detainees “acted according to the instructions of curators from the FSB of Russia”, and their actions are regarded as “a provocation against statehood”, and the demand to find those guilty of the Odessa tragedy is regarded as “inciting ethnic strife”.

The SBU said that the detention of the Ukrainians “prevented potential mass riots and the discreditation of our country on the international scene as a democratic and European state”.
