Over the last four years the export of Ukrainian wood to EU countries has grown by 75% and has exceeded €1 billion, reports the Zerkalo Nedeli publication with reference to the research of the British organisation Earthsight.

In commemoration of this event the National Bank of Ukraine has issued a new note where the slopes of the Carpathians that have been thinned out by deforestation are well visible.

And on the reverse side there is the Lvov opera – near it is the former house of Ivan Yakovych Franko, where recently the commemorative plaque in metal devoted to him was stolen.
