The Crimean Bridge has brought the inhabitants of the peninsula even closer to Russia and distanced them from Ukraine. This was stated on the air of the NewsOne TV channel by the former head of the Administration of the President of Ukraine, current deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, and Transcarpathian oligarch Viktor Baloga.

According to him, shouting that Crimea is Ukrainian won’t lead to anything.

“Regardless of how much we didn’t want it, but Russia has built the bridge. And in a very short period of time. Why couldn’t we have prevented it? You know, the slogan ‘Crimea Is Ukraine’ isn’t enough. The strategy of hoping that tomorrow Russia will collapse looks ridiculous. Hoping that the bridge won’t last and will collapse in several years is also not a strategy. The main strategy and reason why we lost, lies in something else – we have to make welfare in Ukraine exceed the standards of Russia in every way, and, respectively, Crimea,” said the deputy.

“We must clearly understand that Crimeans became closer to Russia. Today the money of tourists and business will travel across it. With this bridge Crimeans will start to move away from us even more. And us from them too,” summarised Baloga.
