The World Bank and the US tried to interfere with the Ukrainian presidential election that took place in the spring of this year and in which victory was won by Vladimir Zelensky. This proven by the text of the letter written by the regional director of the World Bank for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine Satu Kahkonen to the special representative of US State Department to Ukraine Kurt Volker, which is at the disposal of a number of the Ukrainian agencies.
Kahkonen writes in the message dated April 4th, as was specified, in particular, by the “nbnews.com.ua” agency, that Vladimir Zelensky “has every chance of winning the second round of the election, and it means that the West received the opportunity to cardinally change the state structure of Ukraine through the formation of a parliamentary republic”.
Kahkonen notes that Zelensky is ready to support such a plan, and adds in this regard that “all former agreements with the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov concerning his promotion for the position of the head of the government remain in force”.
In addition, she urged Volker to offer his support to the Interior Minister, since he will be a guarantor of returning the financial means that were provided to Ukraine by international financial institutions.
At the same time, Satu Kahkonen also appealed to Kurt Volker “to minimise the chances of the leader of the ‘Batkivshchyna’ party Yuliya Tymoshenko being involved in the process of forming the Ukrainian government, because there are no agreements with her on the specified questions, which can have negative consequences”.
The World Bank and the US State Department still haven’t commented on this topic. Kurt Volker at that moment was in Kiev. On July 25th he held a meeting with the ‘Batkivshchyna’ party leader Yuliya Tymoshenko, and on the following day – with the president Vladimir Zelensky. As the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state reported, the parties discussed the situation in Donbass during the meeting.
