The Zaporozhtransformator company published on Tuesday on its website an open letter to the president Petro Poroshenko and the government of Ukraine where it specifies that the changes accepted by the Verkhovna Rada concerning the Tax Code destroy Ukrainian producers.
The private joint-stock company “Zaporozhtransformator” in the 70 years of its existence repeatedly carried out the development and delivery of transformer equipment for the needs of Ukrainian enterprises. About 90% of the transformer equipment installed at Ukrainian facilities for power generation was manufactured by “Zaporozhtransformator”.
As the enterprise reminded, at the end of last year the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted changes to the transitional provisions of the Tax Code of Ukraine and, in fact, exempted the importation to the territory of the country of liquid dielectric transformers with a capacity of more than 10,000 Kilo-volt-ampere from value-added tax until December 31st 2022. This led to a 20% reduction in the cost of products produced abroad in comparison with similar products made in Ukraine.
“In our opinion, this situation is inadmissible and will lead to the liquidation of the enterprise in connection with its market non-competitiveness. And, as a result, a loss of about 3,000 jobs in the city of Zaporozhye, a growth in social tension, and a decline of cultural and sports development in our region”
