The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Aleksandr Turchynov stated that since 2018 Russians will have to undergo preliminary registration for trips to Ukraine, reports the Ukrainian “Channel 24”.
“By the beginning of 2018 the electronic system of preliminary registration of entry into Ukraine of Russian citizens must start to work,” he said.
Turchynov explained that the Russians who wish to come to the territory of Ukraine will need to provide to the government in Kiev “necessary data that will be defined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs”. Besides this, citizens of Russia will need to be registered in the place of their temporary stay.
“Also the need to submit information about the movement across the territory of Ukraine is being introduced,” added the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
As Turchynov emphasized, innovations in the sphere of biometric control will concern all States that Ukraine has no agreements, establishing other regimes of entrance into the country.
“This concerns, first of all, the fingerprints of citizens of other countries and persons without citizenship, except the States that Ukraine has the relevant agreement with, i.e. it is clear that first of all, it will concern Russian citizens,” he stated.
On June 24th, Turchynov announced the establishment of additional equipment for the verification of biometric passports at checkpoints on the border with Russia.
As Ruposters reported, earlier the initiative to organize the registration of Russians was taken by the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Anton Gerashchenko. Such an innovation is positioned as an alternative to a visa regime. According to the data of opinion polls, the introduction of visas with the neighboring State is opposed by more than a half of Ukrainians.
Also, the bill about the reintegration of certain districts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions in detail describes who is the country-occupier in the anti-terrorist operation zone and also what territories are considered as occupied.
“Of course, it is stated in the law. It is clear written down,” assured Turchynov.
“Besides this, in the law the mechanism of their (occupied territories) liberation is also written down,” he added.
According to the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, it is not enough to simply state well-known things. “It is important for us to now provide the mechanism of liberation of these territories. To provide the mechanism of not allowing the aggression to spread to the west, including to protect citizens who suffer from an aggressor, this is essential for us,” he stressed.
In addition, despite the change of the anti-terrorist operation format, all earlier established privileges and social payments will be preserved for the combatants of military operations against “Russian-terrorist troops”.
