The Novokakhovsky district court found two residents of the Kherson region guilty of “separatism” for storing and distribution a printed Novorossiya newspaper. They were sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment. This was reported by the press service of the SBU.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, law enforcement officers established that two men in 2014 distributed the Novorossiya newspaper in Nova Kakhovka.

The SBU detained one of the convicted in a post office while receiving a parcel from Donbass.

“According to the conclusions of experts, the circulation of the received newspaper contained open direct calls for a violent change and overthrow of the constitutional system [ironic, isn’t it? – ed], and also the commission of deliberate actions directed at changing the boundaries of the territory and State borders of Ukraine contrary to the Constitution of Ukraine,” it is said in the message of the authorities.

In February, two residents of Sloviansk were found guilty by a district court of committing a crime under part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (infringement of territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) and were sentenced to five years in prison. This was reported by the press service of the so-called “Prosecutor’s Office of the Donetsk region”.
