A Ukrainian soldier crossed the contact line in Donbass in a BMP and surrendered to the People’s militia of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic, RIA Novosti learnt from a source in LPR law enforcement bodies.
“On the 1st of December, a soldier from the Ukrainian army crossed the contact line with the LPR in a BMP, and then voluntarily surrendered to units of the people’s militia,” said the source.
According to the interlocutor of agency, the incident occurred in the area of Kirovsk. Whether it was an attempt at a breakthrough or the Ukrainian soldier deserted was not specified.
“Now UAF soldier was transferred to the Interior Ministry,” added the source.
Earlier, the representative of the LPR militia Andrey Marochko noted the poor morale of Ukrainian soldiers, which became the cause of the frequent cases of desertion in the Armed Forces.
