The civil war in Donbass will end as soon as in Ukraine there is a change of power and Donbass will be given the autonomous status that the Crimean peninsula has.
According to the 54-year-old praporshchik Nikolay Kovalenko from the 72nd brigade, who is being treated in the capital’s hospital of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, people go to fight in Donbass not because of patriotism but to earn.
“Why do these guys go to war — yes, because there is no work. If in Kiev it is possible to settle somewhere for 3,000 hryvnias, then in the villages it is impossible to earn even 300. While a soldier-contract employee is given a salary of 15,000. They believe that they won’t get wounded, and then they appear in hospital with terrible wounds,” notes the praporshchik who has been in hospital for two months.
The soldier in comment to “Vesti” noted that war will end not soon. The praporshchik is sure that it will be precisely another three more years until there is a change of power.
“And then they will agree, they will give Donbass the status of autonomy, like what Crimea was given. And everything will calm down,” the soldier notes.
As a reminder, on June 13th the Secretary of National Security and Defense Council Aleksandr Turchynov stated that military operations in Donbass have outgrown the anti-terrorist operation format both in duration and on scale, and in this regard it is necessary to move onto a new format for the defence of Ukraine. After Turchynov said these words the Ukrainian politicum seriously started talking about the introduction in Ukraine of martial law.
