Military personnel of the UAF were sentenced to only three years of probation for torturing an inhabitant of the Artemovsk region.

On June 30th, 2016, three servicemen, based not far from the territory of the abandoned enterprise of the military unit, entered into the house of a female resident of the village of Zaitsevo of the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region. According to a senior of rank – a sergeant, the owner of the house told to the reconnaissance agent that her cohabitant collects information about places where the UAF is located.

As soon as the man came back home, his hands were immediately tied behind his back with adhesive tape, a bag was placed over his head, he was put in the car and brought to the bunker of the military unit in order to in more detail investigate the “question of separatism”.

In this unit they intimidated the man, beat him with a palm to the face, and a stick to the heels. The sergeant, after failing to achieve anything with the prisoner, went to sleep. And his subordinated soldiers in the meantime found out that the prisoner had no pulse. They quietly took out the corpse in a groundsheet, with the arms tied with adhesive tape, threw him into the car, and brought him to a field on the Bakhmut road. And they threw him like that with tarpaulin. The body was found only after several weeks. The criminals were found thanks to the markings of the groundsheet.

The Artemovsk city regional court sentenced the sergeant who gave the command for illegal imprisonment of a peaceful citizen to three years of probation.
