The Ministry of Information Policy (MIP) of Ukraine sent a letter to the management of Facebook in which it accuses the company of “restricting the freedom of speech” of Ukrainian users and also of assisting in the dissemination of information from the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

The department asked the leadership of the company to make it impossible to use Facebook tools “as a way of restricting the freedom of speech of Ukrainian activists, and instead to take operational and effective measures to end the functioning on social network of pages and groups that activity contradict the community standards, because their activity has destructive consequences for the Ukrainian people and also for the image of the company”.

Earlier, the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko threatened the founder of the social network Facebook Mark Zuckerberg by saying that he will “work” with him if users have problems with confidentiality.
