The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines (SSUM) banned the use of the complex vaccine “Pentaksim” against pertussis, diphtheria, tetanus, and poliomyelitis. This is stated in the decree of the SSUM from August 30th.

“To forbid the realisation, storage, and use of the Pentaksim medicine, the vaccine for the prevention of diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and poliomyelitis of 0.5 ml, of various series, of French production, because of a violation of the requirements of Ukrainian legislation,” it is said at the order of the department.

It is forbidden to use in Ukraine the vaccine “Pentaksim” manufactured in France because the instructions are in Russian, which is a violation of the requirements of the legislation of Ukraine.

Therefore, all suppliers are suggested to withdraw the vaccine from sale and to take measures for its disposal and destruction.

The inoculation of DPT is a vaccine for the first year of life of babies. Its use forms 100% immunity to dangerous infectious diseases – pertussis, diphtheria, and poliomyelitis. Unfortunately, currently, except Pentaksim, only a vaccine of Indian production is offered, which causes post-vaccine complications.

In 2015 in Ukraine an outbreak of poliomyelitis was recorded among children in the western regions. Since the beginning of 2018 4 cases of diphtheria were recorded and confirmed by laboratory conclusions.

The dangerous infectious diseases pertussis, diphtheria, poliomyelitis, and tetanus were eliminated in the period of the USSR across all its territory, including Ukraine, due to the almost full immunisation of the population.
