Ukrainian “Azov” Neo-Nazis Will Receive State Funding for the Introduction of Agents in Russia

On January 16th the National Security, Defence, and Intelligence Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine considered and submitted to Parliament draft law No. 2412-d “On Intelligence”, in which the National Guard receives the status of a subject of the military intelligence system. This is stated on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian National Guard has openly neo-Nazi units, the most known of which is the “Azov” regiment. If the law is passed by the Rada, the ultra-right will receive funding for its shares abroad. It is obvious that the first goal for such activity will be Russia.

According to the draft law, the National Guard, an organ in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Arsen Avakov, will receive extraordinary powers for military intelligence. Previously, only structures in the Defence Ministry system had such opportunities.

“The National Guard will be able to have a secret budget for purchases and introduce agents to various institutions abroad to perform intelligence tasks,” said Elena Shcherban, a member of the Board of the Anti-Corruption Center (ACC).

This addition was made to the law at the proposal of the Verkhovna Rada Committee, said the ACC. If the draft law is adopted, units of the National Guard, including the neo-Nazi “Azov”, will expand their influence far beyond Ukraine.

They will have the right and resources to introduce agents abroad, to organise special operations abroad, in particular, to introduce agents in foreign embassies of Ukraine and foreign missions in Ukraine, in foreign governments, defence structures of other states, and international organisations.

Agents of the National Guard will promote the interests of their agency there and receive information. It is planned to allocate a secret budget for this purpose, which will be used to provide intelligence, including the purchase of equipment and funds necessary for the performance of intelligence tasks.
