The citizens of Ukraine are being duped by a political trick involving the alleged resignation of the Prosecutor-General Yury Lutsenko, said the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Aleksandr Vilkul on the air of the 112 Ukraine TV channel.

The day prior Lutsenko stated that he will resign because of the accusations of carrying out an unfair legal investigation into the death of the adviser to the mayor of Kherson Ekaterina Gandzyuk. On Wednesday he wrote a statement to Petro Poroshenko about his resignation.

According to the deputy, Ukrainians are “taken for little fools” by the staged resignation of the Prosecutor-General, who actually will keep his position, since the majority of the Rada will vote against his resignation.

“We haven’t investigated either [the murder of – ed] Sheremet nor Buzina. Moreover, their murderers — everyone knows who the murderers are — enjoy freedom. A certain Vita Zaverukha, who shot a police officer, was released by the courts, and she now quietly walks the streets. Odessa May 2nd, lastly. According to Gandzyuk, such a situation arose because she worked with international organisations, and because of this the question was raised high up, and our authorities were forced to justify themselves somehow: ambassadors joined and so on. It’s just that the question is raised rather high up concerning Gandzyuk. But, dear people, be cleverer — you are being duped. Nobody is preparing any resignations – it is just PR for the sake of PR,” stressed Vilkul.

The parliamentarian added that Lutsenko used exactly the same trick in order to “present himself as a hero” 10 years ago, when he was the Minister of Internal Affairs.
