Ukraine shames the US and Great Britain – they transferred the defence industry to the West for external management, and in response they received only “deep concern”.
Such a statement was made on the air of the “112” TV channel by the secretary of the parliamentary committee on national security and defense, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Ivan Vinnyk from the “Bloc of Petro Poroshenko”.
According to the politician, the West’s external management of Ukraine hasn’t given a positive result.
“Ukraine had the experience of transferring one of the spheres guaranteeing national security to external management. This concerns the sphere of ensuring military security. In 1994 we signed the ‘Budapest memorandum’, which guaranteed our inviolability and territorial integrity. We transferred it to external management by completely destroying the nuclear potential and essentially weakening the Ukrainian army in general. In particular, under the leadership of one of the signatories of the ‘Budapest memorandum’ – this is the Russian Federation.
In the end, we found ourselves in a situation where the most that we could receive from our western partners is ‘deep concern’. In my opinion, this isn’t the expectation and responsibility that Ukraine expected to receive when it signed the ‘Budapest memorandum’. Therefore external management in Ukraine hasn’t yielded any successful results,” said Vinnyk.
