A MP of Ukraine called the EU association a profanation

An MP from the Radical Party of Ukraine, Deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration Andrey Artemenko, said that Ukraine’s Association with EU has become a complete failure and urged the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to quickly restore relations with Russia and the CIS countries.

“I will describe the 600 pages of the association agreement with one Russian word – profanation,” he said in an interview with reporters on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada.

According to him, the policy of European integration had a negative impact on Ukraine’s image.

“We are not accepted anywhere. We say — let us join the EU and NATO. Why? Were we invited? Western diplomats look at us like we are crazt. We say we go to NATO. And who called us there? We say we go to the EU. And who invited us to the EU?” asks Artemenko.

According to him, all countries that were part of the Soviet Union must be the closest trade partners of Ukraine.

“There is nothing to invent, “The wheel has already been invented” — they know our products, they know exactly what to do with them,” said the Deputy. “Nobody is stopping us today from looking only to the West. The West is not a panacea. They have their problems very much so. We need to look at our surroundings, our neighbors, our family. Therefore, we have no other chance than to agree with our neighbors.
