Ukrainian “Patriots” Team up With ISIS to Fight “Russian Aggression” in Deir Ezzor

Translated by Ollie Richardson

A video from the vicinities of Deir Ezzor, where the joint anti-terrorist campaign of Air Force of the Russian Federation and the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is currently ongoing, was published by “”. The events that are seen in the video were filmed on the east coast of the Euphrates, where at the moment the cleaning-up of territories from ISIS militants takes place.

Governmental troops, one of which holds the camera, found the abandoned command point of terrorists. Entering the room, where before, according to the military personnel, an ISIS sniper was based, the group of soldiers calls over the camera operator to record what they found. In one of the rooms, besides several grenades, a gun, and a locked smartphone, the Syrian fighters also found other, much more interesting items.

On a bedside cabinet the army found an open pack of cigarettes of a known Russian brand and a magazine of crossword puzzles in Russian. Later one of the soldiers notices a Ukrainian flag on a wall opposite. His colleagues assume that one of commanders of the terrorist organization lived in this room obviously is a Russian-speaker [it should be remembered that many militants of, for example, “Right Sector”, speak exclusively in Russian – ed], who, according to the soldiers, generally aren’t especially devout Muslims and therefore sometimes permit themselves tobacco.

As a reminder, at the beginning of the current month when there was an operation to unblock Deir Ezzor, after clashes between units of the Syrian Arab Army and groups of militants and also airstrikes of the Russian Air Force in the western suburbs of the city about 200 ISIS terrorists – natives of the Russian Federation and the CIS countries -were liquidated.

In June of this year during a speech at the St. Petersburg economic forum the Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that about 4,000 natives of Russia and also from the CIS countries and Ukraine fight on the side of ISIS in Syria. Thus, many of them intend to return to the Russian Federation soon. Respectively, one of the main objectives of the grouping of Russian forces in Syria is to prevent this. Militants must be killed in the Syrian Desert, otherwise after returning to Russia they can become messengers of radical Islam or organizers of new acts of terrorism.
