According to journalists, the forceful option of development of events in Ukraine’s church sphere is put on pause, but it can be implemented after January 7th.
The Presidential Administration made the decision to use only information pressure during the transition of communities of Ukrainian Orthodox Church [Moscow Patriarchate – ed] into Orthodox Church in Ukraine before January 7th. At the same time, the forceful option of development of events is not excluded. This was reported by the “Vesti” publication with reference to its sources.
“The involvement of radical forces – in particular, “Bratstvo” and C-14 (the leader – Evgeny Karas) is possible in the regions bordering the Russian Federation and Belarus,” reported a source that is informed about the results of the meeting in the Presidential Administration. “At the same time, in a conversation with Igor Kononenko (one of the most influential deputies from the “Bloc of Petro Poroshenko”), Korchinsky raised quotations to $5,000 per participant of an action, Karas (C14) – up to $2,000. There is no such money for actions as of yet”.
“In essence, there won’t be active actions until the OCU receives Tomos – until then the Church and the situation in Ukraine is, conditionally, in a grey area,” reports the publication, citing the words of the expert Aleksey Yakubin. “A role is also played by the position of the western partners of Ukraine – during the week Marie Yovanovitch came into the Lavra and met Metropolitan Onufry, thus a signal was sent to the Presidential Administration: there shouldn’t be any violent excesses before the formalisation of the new structure”.
Earlier, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov said that he sees in the creation of the OCU a possible factor of destabilisation of the situation in the country before elections because politicians can speculate with it and kindle hostility.
