The protest actions of Ukrainians organized by the former governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili and his supporters near the Rada building forced the Ukrainian parliamentarians to strengthen security measures, to equip weapons, and to change their appearance using wigs and false moustaches.

After protestors surrounded the Rada building People’s Deputies have to sneak to work via underground tunnels. Those who didn’t take precautionary measures were attacked, among the victims are Aleksey Goncharenko, Oleg Barna, Yulia Machura. According to the Ukrainian deputy Sergey Kaplin, on October 17th Oleg Lyashko came to the Rada building disguised, wrote the Ukrainian “Vesti”.

“What, didn’t you know? It’s his guard who made him enter, he arrived in other car in disguise, nobody recognized him,” said Kaplin.

The parliamentarian added that Deputies use make-shift methods to change their appearance — “wigs, false moustaches, and even eyebrows”. Many hired additional security, Kaplin explained that recently the deputy Skuratovsky’s car was stolen, in which there was a weapon. Deputies reach the place by a detour, because “nobody wants to be pelted with eggs”.

“That’s why all are ordered to use underground tunnels. There is nothing special about them. But without identification nobody can go there,” added Kaplin.

In addition, some people’s deputies change their place of residence, install video surveillance systems in the house. Security was enhanced near buildings in the governmental quarter — snipers on the roofs, the streets are patrolled by employees of the National Guard. And the expert in security Sergey Shabovta noted that Parubiy, Turchynov, and Lyashko travel in armored vehicles.
