People’s Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada were outraged by the statement of the vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oksana Syroyid. According to her, the presence of the Ukrainian army in Donbass is unconstitutional…
She stated this at a meeting of the Rada Committee concerning national security and defense during consideration of bill No. 6400 about the “occupied” territories of Donbass.
“The use of the UAF in the East of Ukraine is unconstitutional,” said Syroyid.
In response the People’s Deputy from the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko Yuliy Mamchur stated that “there are certain situations for the use of the UAF, and the ATO is included in the list of such situations”.
“I ask you to never again use such humiliating statements in regards to the UAF, that we use it illegally. Everything has been regulated for a long time,” added Mamchur.
The People’s Deputy from “Self Help” expressed fear that the Russian media will immediately exploit the words of the vice speaker.
“It isn’t offensive. This will be shown tomorrow by Russia Today, which will say that the vice speaker said that the UAF is illegally in Donbass,” he stated.
In turn the head of the committee of Verkhovna Rada concerning national security and defense Sergey Pashinsky noted that the thesis about the illegality of the UAF in Donbass was regularly sounded on the air of different TV channels over the last two weeks. As a result the offer was made to reject bill No. 6400, and Syroyid left the meeting of the committee.
The author of the bill Mustafa Nayyem stated that he is ready to withdraw the bill in the event that such a legislative initiative arrives from the President.
As the Deputy Minister concerning the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons Yury Grimchak said, instead of the “anti-terrorist operation”, the bill on the reintegration of Donbass uses the term “operation for the defense of Ukraine”.
