Western Media Propaganda About New Russian Law on Military Service Age

NEW – July 19, 2022

Fake: The State Duma of the Russian Federation is promoting a law that will expand the boundaries of military age and allow young people to serve even without military training. The news appeared in the Western media.

Truth: A very belated reaction of the Western media to Federal Law No. 278-FZ from 07/14/2022. The document indeed expands the boundaries of the maximum age of service under contract, but it concerns only those who have already reached the age limit for service. There is no question of conscription of people under the age of 18. Also, the minimum age and term of service in the conscription army for signing a contract does not change.

With experienced specialists, according to this law, they can re-conclude a contract for military service. At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Nikolay Pankov explained that the increase in the age limit for concluding a contract is aimed at attracting employees of logistics services, such as cooks, drivers, paramedics.

Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Nikolay Pankov explained that raising the age limit for concluding a contract for privates and sergeants is done primarily to attract personnel to the rear services and units, such as cooks, drivers, paramedics and others. Now privates and reserve sergeants aged 40-50 who want to sign a contract for these positions will be able to do so.
