What Kind of Help Russia Is Transferring to the Defence of Kupyansk With Izyum in the Kharkov Region

NEW – September 9, 2022

The world’s largest production Mi-26 helicopters land one by one in a field near Kupyansk, the unofficial capital of the liberated part of the Kharkov region. Fighters in full combat gear, brought from the mainland, jump out of the rear ramp to the roar of propellers that raise dust on the site. Each such vehicle can accommodate up to 82 paratroopers. Here they were very much expected, and help literally came from the sky. Russia is throwing reserves at repelling the Ukrainian offensive that Kiev has launched in the Kharkov region in recent days.

Help is also coming on the ground. Near Kupyansk and Izyum stretch columns of the “Brave” group – troops of the Central Military District with the tactical sign “O” on the sides of military equipment. They have an impressive track record of success in this area as well. It was they who conquered the territories on the eastern bank of the Oskol River, next to which the main events are unfolding now. The terrain is familiar, and so is the enemy.

“It will be interesting,” my friend from one of the “Brave” special forces joked not very cheerfully.

In the columns – trucks with infantry and special forces, howitzers, armored vehicles, logistics vehicles…

Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian troops, supported by high-precision artillery of the NATO model, have managed to advance near Kupyansk – not only the capital, but also a strategically important transport hub. It is used to supply our Izyum grouping. From it there is also a direct road to the LPR – to Svatovo, Severodonetsk, Lugansk…

The plan of the Kiev command is becoming more and more obvious. The main task is to surround our grouping in Izyum. Ukrainian troops have already been able to penetrate up to 30 kilometres deep into our territory and disrupt logistics. On social networks, there was even information that Izyum is surrounded. But this is not the case. There are other ways to supply its garrison, less convenient and more dangerous, but they exist.

And they are now being used for reserves.

The enemy is also trying to advance south of Izyum, but Russian units stationed there firmly repel powerful attacks.

Ukrainian troops also failed to reach the Chuguyev-Izyum highway east of Balakleya.

And with the Balakleya itself, not everything is completely clear. Vladimir Zelensky announced its “liberation” the day prior. However, there is not a word about this in the reports of the Ukrainian General Staff. But there are such lines: “The Russian Armed Forces are trying to evacuate wounded personnel and damaged military equipment to the areas of the settlements of Olkhovatka and Borodoyarsk”. Evacuate from where? These are localities to the east of Balakleya. Evacuating the wounded in them can only happen from the city, which Zelensky has already announced the capture of. Indirectly, this may indicate that the enemy has occupied only a part of the city, in which our troops can still remain.

In the end, big fans of video clips with Ukrainian “victories” have not yet posted a single piece of evidence from this area. As well as from the largest arsenal, which is adjacent to the city.

It is felt that, despite the rapid advance, the fighting spirit of the Ukrainian troops has somewhat faded. This is facilitated by the round-the-clock work of Russian aviation, artillery, and missile forces. And this should be taken advantage of. The main thing is to hold out until the main forces of the “fire brigade” – the very reserves that Russia is currently transferring to the Kharkov region – approach the most “hot” sections of the front.
